サイ・ワンナポンは、タイのエンターテインメント業界で女優としてキャリアをスタートさせた。バンコクの演劇芸術大学（College of Dramatic Arts）で古典舞踊と音楽を専攻し、1990年代半ばには数多くのタイのテレビ番組や映画作品に出演して著名な存在となった。2000年代初頭からは芸術活動に軸足を移し、絵画、陶芸、写真、映像、パフォーマンス・アート、音楽、詩など、多岐にわたる表現媒体を用いて制作。以後、タイ国内の様々な芸術関連出版物に寄稿を続けているほか、自身の芸術作品やメディアでの発信や論評などを通じて、タイにおける政治の透明性や環境整備を強く提唱する。また、インドのシャンティニケタンにあるヴィシュヴァ・バーラティー大学カラ・バヴァナ美術学院にて、壁画制作を学んだ経験を持つ。


Sai Wannaphon started her career as an actress in Thailand’s entertainment industry. Majoring in classical dance and music at Bangkok’s College of Dramatic Arts, Sai went on to reach celebrity status featuring in multiple Thai television programs and films in the mid 1990’s. In the early 2000’s Sai turned her focus towards art – working across a wide variety of mediums including paints, ceramics, Photo, Flim, performance art, Music and poetry. Sai has since been a regular contributor to various arts publications in Thailand, and is a strong advocate for political transparency and environmental development in Thailand through her artwork, media presence and written commentaries. Sai studied mural painting at Kala Bhavana Institute of Fine Arts at Visva Bharati University in Santiniketan, India.
