是恒さくらは、アラスカ州立大学フェアバンクス校にて学士号（2010年／絵画）、東北芸術工科大学大学院にて修士号（2017年／地域デザイン研究）を取得。アラスカや東北で先住民文化、漁労文化、民俗文化等のフィールドワークをおこない、造形と執筆活動による記録の新たなかたちを探求している。2016年より国内外の捕鯨地域を取材したリトルプレス「ありふれたくじら」を継続的に発行している。主な個展に「沖語り―オキガタリ―」（2017年／Open Letter、東京）、グループ展に「新・今日の作家展2017 キオクのかたち／キロクのかたち」（2017年／横浜市民ギャラリー）等がある。美術家として活動する傍ら、2018年より東北大学東北アジア研究センター学術研究員。
Sakura Koretsune earned her B.F.A. from University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2010, and her master’s degree in localized design from Tohoku University of Art and Design in 2017. She explores the new style of recording by combining visual arts and writing, based on fieldwork conducted on indigenous cultures, fishing cultures, and folk cultures. Since 2016, Koretsune continuously publishes a book series “Ordinary Whales,” which introduces local stories collected from whaling communities both inside and outside of Japan. Her works were included in “New ‘Artists Today’ Exhibition 2017 Compilations of Memories and Records” (Yokohama Civic Art Gallery). She held a solo exhibition “Okigatari – Talking Over Offshore” at Open Letter, 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokyo in 2017.
