Vincent Twardzik Ching [Canadian, b1970 living in Singapore since 2001] uses the phrase ‘subconscious deep-sea diving ‘ to describe his practice of constructing ‘mindscape/landscape’ imagery in paintings, drawings, sculpture and installation. His artworks are deeply personal meditations on the dynamics of trauma, identity and healing and merge classical painting and drawing techniques with aesthetics of the hand-made. Like works by Alexander Calder, Richard Tuttle and Louise Nevelson, Vincent Twardzik Ching uses wood, metal and other raw materials alongside high art materials like graphite, chalk, oil paint and acrylic paint to create inventive combinations and complex arrangements and always strives to convey a sense of the mysterious hidden potential in nature and in ourselves.
